Answers to common solar questions

frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.

WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL BENEFITS OF SOLAR?

a.

The right system can drastically reduce or even eliminate your power bills. With rising electricity prices solar locks in no or low energy costs for your family’s future. In addition to this installing solar also adds value to your property.

Q.

WHAT ARE THE ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF SOLAR?

a.

Solar panels produce electricity without emitting any greenhouse gases which are the major cause of climate change. Reducing your greenhouse gas emissions is the best thing you can do to combat global warming. Solar panels can now be recycled and do not add to landfill at the end of their lifetime.

Q.

WHAT SIZE SYSTEM WILL MY HOUSEHOLD NEED?

a.

The ideal system size depends on several variables such as your daily energy usage and available roof space, this is why before installation we send our experienced solar electricians out to your property to ensure you get an ideal system size that suits your needs.

Q.

CAN I ADD MORE PANELS AT A LATER DATE?

a.

It is only possible to add panels to a string inverter system if your inverter has the capacity and has recently been installed. As solar technology is always advancing the older your system becomes, the harder it is to find panels with the same specifications. For this reason, we recommend a system that will not only suit your present needs but your future needs as well. If you decide on a microinverter system this is not an issue, panels can be added quite easily.

Q.

HOW LONG WILL MY SOLAR PANELS LAST?

a.

Studies show on average solar panels last 20 – 25 years. Your inverter will most likely need replacing once during this period.

Q.

WILL MY SOLAR SYSTEM WORK ON A CLOUDY DAY?

a.

It is a common misconception that solar panels do not work on cloudy days, your solar system will still generate power just not as much as it would on a sunny day.

Q.

WHY SHOULD I USE A CEC ACCREDITED INSTALLER?

a.

A CEC accredited installer is an electrician that has undertaken the necessary training to design and install solar systems including batteries. With this extra knowledge, they create systems that are reliable, safe, and meet customers expectation. CEC accredited installers are subject to random audits ensuring they follow all regulations and work to industry’s best practice.

Q.

WHAT IS A FEED IN TARIFF?

a.

Q.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO USE POWER?

a.

The best time to use power depends on which direction your panels face.

East facing : Morning

North facing : Late morning - Early Afternoon

West facing : Afternoon

We don't recommend using south-facing panels as there is not enough direct sunlight to generate power efficiently.

Q.
